Something new from the Reject Files:
I ended up redoing this because it was too “busy.” Still, I liked the big fruits. Oh, well.

In lieu of something new – I’ve got several things in the works, but nothing really worth posting – here’s something else from the reject files. This is a small graphic that was to be used for an ill-advised (we found out later) insect-themed tag project.
I will say this, however. Though I’ve had my fair share of rejections, each and every one was a great learning experience. I learned more about Photoshop and graphic design in a year than I probably did in the preceding five years. That’s something. Forreals.
Sometimes people ask me to draw them stuff. Sometimes no matter how many versions I do, or how much time I put into the piece, what starts out as a pretty open-ended concept becomes increasingly more specific in proportion to the number of versions I show the person.
In essence, it becomes, “No, not like that. Change that.” From what started out as: “Oh, just draw it how you’d draw it.”
None of these were for money – all of these were rejected. I felt like I wanted to put them somewhere.
